2004 Annual

Town of Saxeville, Waushara County, WI

Annual Meeting Minutes – April 19, 2004 – 8:00 PM

Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, both town halls, the Leon-Saxeville Library, mailed to and published in the Waushara Argus and posted on the Town’s web site.

Chairman Petersen called the meeting to order at 8:00 PM. A silent prayer was said for the health of former Chairman Bud Christensen.  The pledge of allegiance followed.

The Clerk’s report of the minutes from the meeting on April 21, 2003 was read.  The minutes were accepted as read.

The Treasurer’s report from 2003 was studied.  The report was accepted as printed.

OLD BUSINESS

  1. Fire Siren – Sirens for the town were discussed. The one that had been operating didn’t reach very far. About seven sirens, at a cost of $15-$20,000 each, would be needed to adequately cover the Saxeville area.  This would be an expensive project. No action was taken on the matter.
  2. Land Use Planning Committee – The Town Board hasn’t made any decisions on the plan.  The present Board feels some items are not in the best interest of the land- owners.  The plan doesn’t need to be in place for several years yet.
  3. Road Work Completed in 2003 – Several projects totaling $121,251 were completed.  Chairman Petersen is looking forward to using the PASER program. It is a computerized road maintenance system.  The software is not set yet on the state level.
  4. There was no other old business.

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Library – Computer usage has tripled, circulation and inter-library loans are up and volunteers helped with many projects.  Families are enjoying Movie Nights that are being held about once per month.
  2. Fire Contracts – Fire contracts for Saxeville/Springwater ($31,430.56) and PoySippi ($9,627.43) were to be signed by the board.
  3. Road Work Scheduled for 2004 – About $120,000 will be spent on road maintenance. Prices will be obtained from Northeast Asphalt and Waushara County Highway Department. South Long Lake Road, near Schulke’s, needs attention.
  4. Town Hall Rent – The policy has been set on renting of the town hall. So far, it is not intended for profit making ventures.  The hall has been cleaned well after events.
  5. There was no other new business.

The next annual meeting was set for Monday, April 18 2005 8PM at the town hall.

Dates noted were: Open Book: Wednesday, May 12, 2004, 5-7 PM

Board of Review: Wednesday, May 12, 2004, 7-9 PM

The meeting adjourned at 8:40 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Virginia Cartwright, Clerk
