Saxeville Town Hall
Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting – August 18, 2003
Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, both town halls, the
Leon-Saxeville Library, mailed to and published in the Waushara Argus
and published on the Town’s web site. Chairman Petersen called the
meeting to order at 8:10 PM. All officers were present. Visitors
included Len Brasch, Harold Gerrits (MSI Insurance), Ryan Glatz, Bob
O’Brian, Jason Timm and Tom Catlin.
All
officers were in favor of changing the agenda order to accommodate the
visitors.
Agent Harold Gerrits presented a proposal from MSI Insurance for the
town property, employees and liability. The Board tabled its’ decision
to the September meeting.
Tom
Catlin from the Long Lake Association explained the lake’s DNR musky
program. It was a handshake agreement started in 1987. The DNR has not
kept up its’ part of the program to adequately feed the muskies. The
Long Lake Association is looking for support from the Towns of Saxeville
and Springwater to support a resolution to remove the muskies from the
Lake if the matter is not resolved by September 6, 2003. This will be
discussed again at the September Board meeting.
The
Board was made aware of several patches of weeds that need to be removed
from the dump area.
Len
Brasch reported that another fish sign had been updated at Long Lake.
Boat power loading is still taking place. Two new signs, speaking
against power loading, will be ordered.
Brian Glatz addressed the Board. He is looking for support for the
placement of his small engine repair and sales business, located south
of Saxeville on Cty W. He has applied at the County for a conditional
use permit. It was motioned by Supervisor Hess and seconded by
Supervisor Lind to make a resolution supporting Brain Glatz’s business.
Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
Jerald and Tina Cox were not present to discuss their conditional use
permit.
The
Clerk and Treasurer’s reports from July 2003 were read. Motioned by
Supervisor Lind, seconded by Supervisor Hess to accept the reports as
read. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS

Roads – Work at the Clark’s Mill Dam is nearing completion. “Street”,
“Slow-Children” and “No Power Loading” signs will be ordered. Tom
Dahlke, highway Commissioner, sent spreadsheets for a road rating
system. A traffic counter was purchased for $256.81. Stakes
indicating “walk-in only” at the public access near Mrs. Williams have
been removed and boulders placed to keep the public out. Brad Lind
will do the second road mowing in September.

Old Town Hall – Motioned by Supervisor Hess, seconded by Supervisor
Lind to pay the legal fees of $388.00 to Attorney Dutcher for closing
on the old town hall sale to the Fire Department. Voice vote, all in
favor, motion carried.

Town Hall Janitor – Kathy Sattler is considering taking the job.

There was no other old business.
NEW BUSINESS
-
Mrs. Christ’ Property – Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by
Chairman Petersen to approve the resolution extending an easement for
the well located on Town property to each future owner of the
property, as long as the well remains operational. Voice vote, all in
favor, motion carried. A copy of the same will be sent to Mark Zitzer,
current owner.

WTA Convention – will be discussed at the September meeting.

Copy Machine – from St John’s Church – the item is no longer
available.

Library Board – It was motioned by Supervisor Hess, seconded by
Supervisor Lind to appoint Laura Nelsen to the Library Board if she
represents the Town of Saxeville. Voice vote, all in favor, motion
carried. Supervisor Hess will check on Laura’s area of
representation.

Siren At Old Town Hall – It costs @ $1.13 per month and can be
operated manually. Supervisor Hess will consult with Fire Chief Tim
Jenks and discuss the matter again at the September meeting.

Town Hall Rent – A town resident asked to rent the hall for a craft
sale. The current policy is for non-profit events only.

There was no other new business.
The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay
them.
The
next meeting was set for Monday, September15, 2003, 8 PM at the town
hall.
Motioned by Supervisor Hess, seconded by Chairman Petersen to adjourn
the meeting at 10:50 PM. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
