TOWN OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN

Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting – 12/18/2006

Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library, published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site.  John Blader was a visitor.  All officers were present. Chairman Petersen called the meeting to order at 8:10 PM.

The Clerk’s report of the meeting minutes from November 20, 2006 was read. Two corrections need to be made: The vote on the board officer’s compensation was 5 yeas, 2 nays and 1 abstained.  The plowing by Brian Glatz and Erdman Excavating will be for village roads not town roads. Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as read and corrected.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The Treasurer’s report from November 2006 was read.  Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Chairman Petersen to accept the report as read. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

Assessor John Blader explained the new assessment procedures. Starting with taxes collected in 2008 taxpayers will have an extra 5-day window for paying their taxes.  Another new law says that if someone does not pay his or her real or personal property taxes, the town or county may notify the state, which will enforce the payment.  Because of the high sale prices of real estate property, it will be necessary to have a reassessment again in 2010.  The figures he are currently using are in agreement with the state’s numbers.  John will begin looking at all new construction by the end of December. The new level of assessment is at 89%, down from 98%.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

1.      Roads – Brush near the entryway to dump has been cut; it is much more safe now. Pine and Spruce Lanes also received brush cutting.  Bill’s Tire readied the truck for winter.  Supervisor Lind will paint the sander and Brian Glatz will out it on the truck.

2.      Town Hall Rentals – Sue Petersen will be sent a refund for $25.00.  Schulke’s left the hall in good condition; their security deposit will be returned.

3.      LOSA – the Clerk readied payments due.  The Town of Springwater will be billed for their part of the monies.

4.      Chairman Petersen reported that he had checked with some other area board chairs on the salaries for their boards.  He found out that the other boards have automatic board member raises.

5.      There was a short discussion about the extra chairs now available at the hall.  Chairman Petersen will check with the Town of Springwater to see if they can use the extras.

6.      There was no other unfinished business.

NEW BUSINESS

1.      Town Caucus – The Town Caucus was set for Monday, January 15, 2007, 8 PM at the town hall.

2.      The Board discussed a $100.00 bill for the Board of Tourism.  The Board postponed action on this matter.

3.      There was no other new business.

The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.

The next meeting was set for Monday, January 15, 2007, 8:00 PM at the town hall, immediately following the caucus.

The meeting adjourned at 8:55PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Virginia Cartwright, Town Clerk
