TOWN OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN

Town Board Meeting – 7/21/2008

 Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library, published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site. Pat LeSage and Scott Wilson were visitors. All officers were present. Chairman Petersen called the meeting to order at 8:15 PM.

State Representative Joan Ballweg visited with the Board.  She commented on several current state issues: the 31 federal disaster areas, little or no increases in funding due to the flood expenditures, the review of state statutes dealing with emergency government and the state’s plan for economizing.  Joan encouraged the Board to contact her with any local issues that she might assist with.

 The Board agreed to adjust the meeting’s agenda to accommodate the visitors.

 Pat LeSage proposed a dedication ceremony for the newly restored black smith shop in Saxeville.  Several items would draw interest to the project and the downtown area.  Mr LeSage will organize the event.

 Scott Wilson is applying for a conditional use permit to park an RV on his 30-˝ acres.  The county zoning committee will deal with it in August.  Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Chairman Petersen to support Mr Wilson’s RV placement proposal. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. 

The Clerk’s report of the meeting minutes from June 9, 2008 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as read.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The Treasurer’s report from June 2008 was read.  Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Chairman Petersen to accept the report.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried

 

         UNFINISHED BUSINESS

1.      Waushara County Deputy – no report.

2.      Roads – Alp Road (TRIP Project) is being completed.  Apache Road, near Clayton Peterson’s needs a washout repaired.  Three new bridge signs are needed; some bridge signs have been marred with spray paint.  Chairman Petersen installed the pier at the landing. It just needs an adjustment to level it. 

3.      Town Hall Rentals – More reservations were made for quilting classes, play rehearsals and performances,

church services, bazaar and youth activities, baby shower and a family reunion.

4.      Treasurer’s Computer – Treasurer Seefelt received two quotes from Heckey’s Computer Service; $513.99 for an upgrade and $897.13 for a new tower and Office 2007.  A Saxeville area company was also interested in providing a quote. Motioned by Chairman Petersen, seconded by Supervisor Lind authorizing up to $1000.00 for purchase of a computer.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

5.      There was no other unfinished business. 

NEW BUSINESS

1.      Leon/Saxeville Library – Replacements for board directors Kathy Lind and Jean Heniff are needed. Motioned by Chairman Petersen, seconded by Supervisor Lind, nominating and selecting Pat Denk and Jackie Straw as directors of the Leon/Saxeville Library Board.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

2.      There was no other new business.

 The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.

The next meeting was set for Monday, August 18, 2008, 8 PM at the town hall.

Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to adjourn the meeting at 10:15 PM. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
