TOWN OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Town Board Meeting – 6/09/2008
 
Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library, published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site. All officers were present. Chairman Petersen called the meeting to order at 8:00 PM.
 
Representatives from most of the companies who were bidding on the town roadwork were present. Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to adjust the agenda and open the work bids for Alp Road first for the evening. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. Bids were presented from Kienass, Mathwig, Stafford, RLM, Lind Excavating, Faulks Bros, NE Asphalt and Scott Construction for various phases of the work. Alp Road had been laid out in 1890 for 2 rods; the footage will be reasonable and needs to meet the specs for the TRIP program monies.
 
The Clerk’s report of the meeting minutes from May 19, 2008 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as read. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The Treasurer’s report from May 2008 was read. Rockwoods still have not paid the personal property tax. The state will be paying the transportation funds a month behind schedule. Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Chairman Petersen to accept the report. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried
 
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1.      Waushara County Deputy – no report.
2.      Roads – The Sheriff called about uprooted street signs in the towns of Saxeville and Leon. Chairman Petersen picked up a trailer full of them. Felled trees were removed. The Murray mower is in disrepair. Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by Supervisor Timm to sell the Murray mower to Brian Glatz for $200 for Brian’s personal use and as a spare for the town. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
3.      Town Hall Rentals – More reservations were made for quilting classes, play rehearsals, church services, the feral cat project and the Long Lake Association annual meeting.
4.      Treasurer’s Computer – Treasurer Seefelt was asked to gather information from several sources for presentation at the next meeting, that perhaps a decision could be made by July in order to prepare timely for the tax season.
5.      There was no other unfinished business.
 
NEW BUSINESS
1.      Assessor – Mr Blader applied for the assessor position for 2009. Motioned by Chairman Petersen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to hire Mr John Blader as the 2009 assessor for the Town of Saxeville, for $6,500. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
2.      Licenses – All the beer, liquor, cigarette and operator’s licenses are up for renewal as of July 1, 2008. Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to approve all beer, liquor, cigarette and operator licensed as applied for. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
3.      The Board signed the contract with the Saxeville/Springwater Fire Department, with the adjusted figure of $26,278.53.
4.      There was no other new business.
 
The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.
The next meeting was set for Monday, July 21, 2008, 8 PM at the town hall.
Motioned by Chairman Petersen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to adjourn the meeting at 10:10 PM. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
