Meeting held at Saxeville Town Hall
March
17, 2003
Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, both town halls, the
Leon-Saxeville Library, mailed to and published in the Waushara Argus
and published on the Town’s web site. Chairman Christensen called the
meeting to order at 8:10 PM. All officers were present. Visitors
included Tom and Jeanne Christensen, Jason Timm, Karen Hansen and Naoma
Anderson.
The Clerk’s minutes from February 17,
2003 were read and approved. The Treasurer’s report for February 2003
was read. Motioned by Supervisor Petersen, seconded by Supervisor Lind
to accept the Treasurer’s report as read. Voice vote, all in favor,
motion carried.
OLD
BUSINESS
-
Roads –a. Roads are being plowed and sanded as needed by the County
and Chairman Christensen. b. The crack fillers, Chairman Christensen
and Supervisor Lind met and inspected the roads on March 17. Areas to
receive attention include: crack fill on Akron from Pine Hill Road
east to Cty A, wedge and pave Clark’s Mill Road, crack fill and wedge
31st Ave south of Sawdust City, crack fill and chip seal
East Long Lake Road, crack fill on Archer, crack fill 28th near Harold
Hanson, crack fill and seal 28th south of Felske’s from NN
north for 1 mile and cut brush on 31st from Dittmans’s
north to Archer and west on Archer. c. The concrete cutters are
removing the bridge abutments. Culverts, railings, posts and fill will
be added to widen those roads areas.

The Waushara County Highway Commissioner will meet with Omni Company
on March 19 at the Town Hall for a hearing on the resurfacing of Cty
A.

The WTA District meeting to be held in Ripon on Friday, March 21, 2003
was noted. All officers plan to attend.

Officers were encouraged to attend the meeting at the Sax-Spr Fire
Dept on March 27, 2003, 6 PM to hear details of the Length of Service
Award Program for the department.

Town Hall Rentals – the hall is well used; renters have been cleaning
up properly after use. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors should be
installed in the hall. The library used the hall for a movie night.
The flooring is in need of waxing. Motion by Supervisor Lind, second
by Supervisor Petersen to hire the waxing of the town hall floors.
Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

Jon Van Amerongan inquired for the fire department on the use of the
old town hall. Would the Town give the hall to the fire department?
The department would keep the outside looking basically the same, but
fix the inside for office space and fire meetings. Voter approval
would be sought at the annual town meeting.

NEW BUSINESS
-
Long Lake Water Patrol Agreement –
Motion by Chairman Christensen, second by Supervisor Petersen to
approve the contract for Long Lake Water Patrol for the 2003 season.
Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The Board signed the
agreement.

Elections will he held on April 1,
2003. Five poll workers will be hired.

A plaque for “20 years of unsurpassed
service to the Town of Saxeville” was presented to outgoing Chairman
Christensen. Supervisor Petersen thanked “Bud” for his many years of
dedicated time as a Town officer.

Upcoming events: Annual Voter’s Meeting
April 21, 2003, followed by the regular monthly Board meeting, Open
Book 5-7 PM on May 13 and Board of Review 7-9 PM on May 13.

There was no other new business.
The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay
them.
The next meeting was set for Monday,
April 21, 2003, following the Voter’s Meeting at 8 PM at the town hall.
Motioned by Chairman Christensen, seconded by Supervisor Petersen to
adjourn the meeting at 9:10 PM. Voice vote, all in favor, motion
carried.
