TOWN OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Meeting held at Saxeville Town Hall
Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting – February 18, 2002
Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump and both town halls,
mailed to the Waushara Argus and published in the Waushara Argus. Visitors
included Ray Zastrow, Andrea Nelson, John Nelson, Shawn Eich, Len Brasch,
Thomas Protheroe, and Nancy Hanaman.
Nancy Hanaman reported for the Leon/Saxeville Library. Bar coding is
almost complete. By late May library patrons will be able to reserve books
on line. Sample SAT tests are now available at the library. Nancy provided
a new library brochure.
Tom Protheroe questioned the assessment of his property. The Board
explained that he should come to the Open Book on May 21, 2002. Chairman
Christensen will call Assessor John Blader concerning this assessment. Mr.
Protheroe would like Mr. Blader to view the property when Mr. Protheroe is
present.
Shawn Eich from the DNR spoke about the landing at Long Lake. This is a
good time to fix some of the problems, since the water level is presently
low. There was a discussion of methods that could be used. There is cost
sharing available through the Waterways Commission (Jeff Pagels). Shawn
will contact him and inform Supervisor Petersen. The project could be
started as soon as the ice is gone.
Chairman Elwyn Christensen called the meeting to order. All officers
except Clerk Cartwright were present
The Clerk and Treasurer’s reports from January were presented. The
notice and agenda for the February meeting and minutes from the January
meeting had been posted on the Town’s web site.
OLD BUSINESS
- Roads –
a. brush clean up and some snow plowing have taken place.
b. Stop signs on 30th and Aspen were run over, broken post, sign stolen
c. Roads were checked for needed crack filling (3 or 4 places)
d. North end of 28th needs seal coat
- New Town Hall – The remaining payment of $3,000 has been made to
Jerob, Inc. There was a discussion about installing gutters on the
building. Motion by Supervisor Petersen, second by Supervisor Lind to
remove the trim and install gutters on the south side of the building
for $2,612. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
- Reservations for town hall rent by Hanson and Beard were cancelled.
- There was no land use committee report.
- There was no other old business.
NEW BUSINESS
- Computer for Treasurer – tabled
- Fax Machine for Clerk – tabled
- There was no other new business.
The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to
pay them.
The next meeting was set for Monday, March 18, 2002, 8 PM at the town
hall.
The meeting adjourned at 9:35 PM.
