Meeting held at Saxeville Town Hall

Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting – June 17, 2002

 

Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump and both town halls, mailed to and published in the Waushara Argus and published on the Town’s web site. Chairman Christensen called the meeting to order at 8:10 pm.  All officers were present.  Visitors included Tom Caitlin, Len Brasch, a college student (Delmar Scheneck’s daughter), John Feavel and MM Mark Becker.

The Clerk’s report of the meeting minutes from May 20, 2002 was read. One correction was noted and stricken from the minutes. Motioned by Supervisor Petersen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to approve the minutes. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The Treasurer’s report for May 2002 was read. Motioned by Chairman Christensen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to approve the report as read.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. 

OLD BUSINESS

  1. Roads – Roads need mowing.  It is not determined at this time who will be mowing this summer.  Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by Supervisor Petersen to give Chairman Christensen a negotiating price of $12-$14/hour for the mowing.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
  2. Long Lake Water Patrol Contract – There was much discussion concerning the patrolling officer; should he wear a uniform and use a marked boat for patrol? The town residents are divided in their opinions.  Motioned by Supervisor Petersen, seconded by Chairman Christensen to sign the Long Lake Water Patrol Contract for 2002 as presented.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
  3. VISA Credit Card – The Clerk received one card and is awaiting a second card for the Chairman.

There was no other old business.

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Liquor License Renewals – Chairman Christensen did the background check on Vicki Becker, new owner of Sawdust City Bar.  The record was clean.  Motioned by Supervisor Petersen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to approve the license applications for Sawdust City Bar.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.  Motioned by Chairman Christensen, seconded by Supervisor Petersen to approve the license applications for The Ding Tavern.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.  Motion by Supervisor Petersen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to approve the license application for the Saxeville/Springwater Fire Department.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
  2. Assessor Contract 2003 – John Blader submitted an application for the assessor job for 2003.  Motioned by Supervisor Petersen, seconded by Chairman Christensen to approve John Blader as the Town’s assessor for the year 2003.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
  3. Treasurer’s Computer – The Town has been advised to purchase a new computer and printer for the Treasurer that has a larger operating system.  This will be a July agenda item.
  4. The Board signed the agreement with the Light Company for installing cable under 30th Road near Aaron and Laura Bartel’s home.
  5. Town Website – Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by Supervisor Petersen to purchase 10 hours of website work for $570.00.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
  6. Boat Landing – Townspeople have made favorable comments on the repairs made at the public access.  The repairs cost approximately $1300.  Signs will be added to discourage power loading of boats.
  7. Saxeville/Springwater Fire Department – The Fire Department had asked if the Board would co-sign the note for the new truck and building addition.  It would save 2% in interest costs.  Nothing has been signed to this point.

There was no other new business.

The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.

The next meeting was set for Monday, July 15, 2002, 8 PM at the town hall.

Motioned by Supervisor Petersen and seconded by Supervisor Lind to adjourn the meeting at 9:45 PM.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
