TOWN
OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Meetings held at Saxeville Town Hall
Meetings – November 18, 2002
Notice for the three meetings was posted at the dump and both town halls,
mailed to and published in the Waushara Argus and published on the Town’s
web site. Chairman Christensen called the first meeting to order at 8:10
pm.
A.
ASSESSOR JOHN BLADER
Mr. Blader reported to the Board that he had
recently attended assessor’s schooling in Oshkosh and Green Bay. The
meetings addressed the recent changes in assessing laws. Agriculture use
has seen the most revisions. At present the town is assessed at 86% of
fair market value and by 2003 the rate is expected to be about 80%.
B.
PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED BUDGET FOR 2003
John
VanAmerongen, president of the Saxeville/Springwater Volunteer Fire
Department explained the “Length of Service Award Program” for fire
fighters. The state passed a bill initiating this program to obtain and
retain more fire fighters for local departments. Monies are set-aside for
10 years and fire department members must meet the state-mandated
guidelines before any awards can be drawn from the fund. About $2,500 per
year would be the cost to the town. It was suggested that this item be
added to the town budget for 2003.
Vern
Hess questioned the funds set aside for the library. They are still
available. The library may ask for them soon.
It was noted that the salaries proposed for
town officers for the 2003-2005 term is the same as the current
compensation.
