Meeting held
at Saxeville Town Hall
Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting – September 16, 2002
Notice for
the meeting was posted at the dump and both town halls, mailed to and published
in the Waushara Argus and published on the Town’s web site. Chairman Christensen
called the meeting to order at 8:10 pm. All officers were present. Visitor was
Len Brasch.
The Board
heard from a representative of the Waushara County Tobacco Free Coalition.
Cindy Emerich was on hand to inform the Board of the changes in the statute
pertaining to the licensing of businesses for the sale of tobacco products. The
changes took place in April, and Cindy has been visiting the various
municipalities throughout the county to inform the Boards of the changes, the
objectives of the coalition and to request that the municipalities raise the
license fees. The extra money can go the coalition to help prevent tobacco from
reaching the hands of minors if the municipalities can’t come up with other good
uses for the money.
Rural
Insurance Agent, Tom Simon, reviewed the Town’s policies with the Board. The
dump, new and old town halls, 2 cemeteries, and a Board member’s home (if used
for town business) are the town’s property. The policy also covers the signage
at the public access There was much discussion concerning the general policy and
the umbrella policy. Motion by Supervisor Petersen, second by Supervisor Lind
to drop the umbrella policy and increase the general coverage policy. Voice
vote, all in favor, motion carried. It was motioned by Supervisor Lind,
seconded by Supervisor Petersen to purchase a separate policy with $25,000
coverage for employee dishonesty. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
Mr. Simon will also submit a quote for the Treasurer’s tax collection bond.
The Clerk’s
report of the meeting minutes from August 19, 2002 and the Treasurer’s report
for August 2002 were read and approved.
OLD
BUSINESS
-
Roads –
Simpson’s will take care of trees needing attention on 30th Rd and
2nd St near the boat landing. The seal coating has been completed
at a cost of $18,822.40. Mr. Kettlewell is doing the fall mowing. Supervisor
Lind will install a new stop sign near Calvin Hansen’s residence. County Hwy
TT will receive black top yet this fall.

Treasurer’s Computer – The new computer is up and running. Motion by
Supervisor Petersen, second by Supervisor Lind for Treasurer Seefelt to
purchase a new printer at a cost of up to $150.00. Voice vote, all in favor,
motion carried.

First
National Bank – The Town’s accounts have been transferred from Baylake Bank to
1st National Bank, Poy Sippi.

There was
no other old business.
NEW
BUSINESS
-
The Board
reviewed the 10-year lease with the County for the dumpsite. A garbage
compactor will be installed there soon. Motion by Supervisor Lind, second by
Supervisor Petersen, to sign the 10-year lease with Waushara County for the
dump, provided the agreement includes a statement of accessibility by the Town
to the dumpsite. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The WTA
County Unit meeting for September 19 was noted. All members except Supervisor
Petersen plan to attend the meeting in Wautoma.

Resolution
about Land Use – The Board would like to have the right for the “first look”
at all land divisions in the town. The item will be on the October agenda.

There was
no other new business.
The bills
were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.
The next
meeting was set for Monday, October 21, 2002, 8 PM at the town hall.
Motioned by
Chairman Christensen and seconded by Supervisor Petersen to adjourn the meeting
at 10:35 PM. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
