TOWN
OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Saxeville Town Hall
Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting – January 19, 2004
Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, both town halls, the
Leon-Saxeville Library, mailed to and published in the Waushara Argus
and published on the Town’s web site. Chairman Petersen called the
meeting to order at 8:03 PM. All officers, except Clerk Cartwright were
present. Visitors included Jon VanAmerongan, Tom Ketchum, Dennis Manske,
Sheriff Peterson, Ray Hahn and Jeff Coonan.
Chairman Petersen read the Clerk’s report of the meeting minutes from
December 15, 2003, in the absence of the Clerk. Motioned by Supervisor
Hess, second by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as read. Voice
vote, all in favor, motion carried.
There was a discussion of the Length of Service Award Program (LOSA).
Jon VanAmerongan, President of the Saxeville-Springwater Volunteer Fire
Department explained that 20 members would qualify for the program. The
Town of Saxeville will be the sponsor in charge of the program. The Town
will need to send a letter of responsibility and a bill for $2900.00 to
the Town of Springwater; Saxeville will then write one check for
$5800.00 to the “Glatfelter Insurance Group”. The paperwork will be
filled out and sent in by January 31, 2004
Sheriff Peterson wanted to know if the Town had any complaints or things
he needed to know. One issue brought up was the concern of cars
speeding on “W” across the millpond. Sheriff Petersen said they might
put a radar sign there that shows speed. This will be in place for a
while to see if it helps with the problem. Ray Hahn stated that signs
should be put up to let people know the fire trucks enter on “W”. Ray
also brought to the board’s attention that the town hall parking lot
would be good to use for Theda Star helicopter landing in case of an
emergency.
