TOWN OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN

Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting – September 19, 2005

Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library, published in the Waushara Argus and the Town’s web site.  There were several visitors.  All officers were present.  Chairman Petersen called the meeting to order at 8:10 PM.

New Rural Insurance Agent, Linda Prochaska introduced herself to the Board.  She reviewed the current policy, and assured the Board the Town was well covered. It was decided to keep the town tractor insurance in force, until a decision is made about the use of the tractor.  All roads should be carefully checked following a storm.  Any injuries need to be reported to Workman’s Comp within hours after the event.  The Clerk will have the necessary forms available at the town hall.  If the hall is used as a meal site, the Board should request a certificate of insurance. Linda will keep in touch with the Board for any updates.

Department of Aging Services Rep, Deb Paavola, Director for the meal site program, reported on the progress of that program.  The Town Board had agreed to a 3-4 month trial basis for use of the hall. Because the program has been so well received, Deb approached the County Board already in September about hiring a site manager for two days per week. The Town Board was asked if they want to make this a permanent arrangement.  A cooperative agreement document was discussed.  The Town Board would provide clean kitchen and dining room area from approximately 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM on the two days for $50.00 per month.  The program would reimburse the Town for any extra expenses incurred, such as telephone.  Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the meal site contract for 2006.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.  The Board will sign the contract and sent a copy to Deb.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

  1. Roads – Two driveways on 29th were checked.  One was done well, one not well.  A culvert is still needed.  American Asphalt submitted a bill for road repair south of Sawdust City.  Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by Supervisor Timm to pay American Asphalt $701.46 for the road patch.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.  The bill for the final mowing was $1975.00, to Lind Excavating.
  2. Town Hall Rental Fees Policy – The Clerk asked for clarification on rental policies.  Previous meeting minutes on the subject were not clear.  The Chairman handles all rental arrangements. Two checks are received and noted in the minutes; $25.00 rent, $50.00 security deposit.  The $50.00 is returned if the hall is left in satisfactory condition.  No liquor is to be served.  The renter is responsible for all damages. Rentals are made only to Town of Saxeville taxpayers for non-profit events.  All other uses of the hall and fees charged or waived, such as Long Lake Association, Exercise Club, 4-H Club, DNR, Saxeville Players, Leon-Saxeville Library, or County Sheriff are at the Board’s discretion and should be voted on and stated in the minutes. Motioned by Chairman Petersen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to omit the extra $5.00 charge for use of the garage on a rental.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
  3. There was no other unfinished business.
