Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting – 2/19/2007

Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library, published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site.  Kathy Behm, Amanda Sprenger, Glen Timm, Tim Jenks and Steve Kemps were visitors.  All officers were present. Chairman Petersen called the meeting to order at 8:15 PM.

The Board agreed to amend the agenda to accommodate the visitors. 

Sawdust City Bar – Kathy Behm presented beer and liquor license applications for the Board’s consideration.  Kathy and her husband plan to purchase the bar and open about April 1, 2007.  The clerk will publish the applications, which will be discussed and decided on at the March meeting.

Land  Division – Steve Kemps discussed with the Board a land division with a 63-acre split-up on land he is purchasing from MM Tom Pias at 26th Rd and Cty TT.  Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Chairman Petersen to accept the land division as presented.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

Land Division – Glen Timm discussed with the Board a land division on Cty A taking off 3.34 acres to be sold to Allen Killem for residential use.  Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by Chairman Petersen to accept the land division as presented.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The Clerk’s report of the meeting minutes from January 15, 2007 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as read. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The Clerk’s report of the caucus minutes from January 15, 2007 was read.  Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Chairman Petersen to accept the minutes as read.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The Treasurer’s report from January 2007 was read. Corrections on four of Bob Madison’s parcels were needed, resulting in lower taxes charged to the Madisons.  The mistake seems to have been made at the county level. The town will recoup extra taxes paid, from the schools, state and county. Three personal property taxes (Rockwood, George Miller, and Mike Sloan’s Restaurant) have not been paid yet. The Treasurer’s report was approved.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

1.      Roads – The new road signs have been received and will be put up where needed.  The Board conducted a road inspection and found these areas needing attention: a. the top is peeled off from part of 30th Rd, b. the seal coat is peeled off from part of 31st, c. on Clark’s Mill Rd to the north, part of the shoulders are off, d. Akron Ct from 29th to A is partially gone, e. the bridge on Akron Ct has dips and bumps from snow plowing.  Cut wood along roadways will need to be removed before the spring mowing.  Faulks Bros pushed back the brush pile at the dump.

2.      Town Hall Rentals – There are only a few hall rentals right now.  Mrs. Lulloff still plans to offer theatre and dance lessons to schoolchildren at the hall, with no charge for use of the hall.

3.      There was no other unfinished business.

NEW BUSINESS

1.      The Saxeville/Springwater Fire Department received a $6,000.00 check from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Grant Fund (Richard and Karen Bertrund).  It was received by the Town and will be paid to the Fire Department.

2.      The Open Book Session was set for Tuesday, May 22, 2007, 5-7 pm, and the Board of Review set for Tuesday, May 22, 2007, 7-9pm.

3.      There was no other new business.

The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.

The next meeting was set for Monday, March 19, 2007, 8:00 PM at the town hall.

The meeting adjourned at 9:25PM.
