TOWN OF
SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Meetings –11/19/2007
Notice for the meetings was posted
at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library,
published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site. All
officers were present. There were several visitors (see the
attached listing). Chairman Petersen called the meeting to order
at 8:05 PM.
PUBLIC HEARING
The proposed budget for 2008 was
studied. $17,000 had been suggested as the amount for the
library for 2008, but it was pointed out that both Leon and
Saxeville need to budget the same amount, so the figure was set
back to $16,000.
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
Motioned by Kevin Thiemer,
seconded by Jason Timm to adopt the 2007 town tax levy of
$215,530.89 to be paid in 2008 pursuant to Section 60.10(1) of
Wisconsin Statutes. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
REGULAR MONTHLY TOWN BOARD MEETING
The Clerk’s report of the meeting
minutes from October 15, 2007 was read. Motioned by Supervisor
Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as
read. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The Treasurer’s
report from October 2007 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Timm,
seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the report as read. Voice
vote, all in favor, motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1.
Waushara County Deputy – no deputy
was available for a report.
2.
Roads – The Board will rate the
roads on November 21 and prepare for the report due date of
December. 31st Road and M had been wedged and
seal-coated. The figure needs to be changed at the state level
to show the correct amount. Motioned by Chairman Petersen,
seconded by Supervisor Lind to settle on the correct number of
miles with the town of Bloomfield. Voice vote, all in favor,
motion carried. The truck will be fit with the plow and sander
and readied for winter. Chairman Petersen applied for a TRIP
grant for 2008. It could reap about $25,000 for road use.
3.
Town Hall Rentals – There are
upcoming rentals scheduled for Nov 24, Dec 7,8, 9, 22 and Jan
10,17,24,31. Sue Peterson will be charged two days fees for Dec
7 and 8.
4.
Cell Phone Tower – The decision for
the tower on the Zahn property near Russ Meyer was tabled at the
County level due to advertising an incorrect legal description
of the proposed site. The Zahns have been working with Todd
Anderson from the tower company to come up with an alternate
site that would be pleasing for all parties involved. The Board
was asked to attend the December 3 county meeting on the matter.
5.
Blacksmith Shop – After discussion
it was motioned by Chairman Petersen, seconded by Supervisor
Timm requesting a zoning change for the blacksmith shop from
residential to general commercial. Voice vote, all in favor,
motion carried.
6.
There was no other unfinished
business.
NEW BUSINESS
1.
Workshops Reports – Supervisor Lind
attended a road and pavement rating session, Chairman Petersen
has had “census schooling” and Clerk Cartwright reported about
the election training.
2.
Tourism Board – Kevin Thiemer spoke
highly of the results of efforts put forth from the Tourism
Board. About $26,000 had been received from motel tax and
$18,000 was put back into more countywide advertising. Motioned
by Chairman Petersen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to reappoint
Kevin Thiemer as a representative for the Tourism Commission.
Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
3.
Library – Laura Nelsen, librarian
and Maureen VanAmerongan, president of the library board, spoke
about the many good things happening at the library. The use of
the facility has increased, especially from the Saxeville area.
4.
Ruth Penterman – Ruth has applied
for a conditional use permit for a motor cross bikes, atv and
snowmobile service and sales business. Motioned by Supervisor
Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to support the conditional use
permit application as presented by Ruth Penterman. Voice vote,
all in favor, motion carried.
5.
There was no other new business.
The bills were presented for
payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.
The next meeting was set for
Monday, December 17, 8 PM at the town hall.

seconded by Supervisor Lind to adjourn the meeting at 9:35 PM.
