TOWN OF
SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Meetings – 11/17/2008
Notice for the meetings was posted at
the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library, published in
the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site. Vern Hess, Jeannie
Williamson, John Nigbor, Maureen VanAmerongon, Matt and Leah Hansen,
Fran and Ruth Penterman and Tom Brown were visitors. Chairman
Petersen called the first meeting to order at 8:03 PM.
The Pledge of allegiance was spoken.
PUBLIC HEARING
- The budget for 2009 was discussed. The librarian expressed thanks
for the support that the town board and town residents show for
their library. The salaries for the town board to be elected in
April of 2009 were discussed. It was explained that a 10% raise had
been proposed for the next board term (April 2009 – April 2011) but
the full effect of that would not be realized for the 2009 budget,
since the current salary schedule would stay in effect through the
first quarter of 2009.
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
– The 2008 town tax levy, payable in 2009, of $217,229.55 (an
increase of .79%) was noted. It was motioned by Maureen VanAmerongon
and seconded by Matt Hansen to adopt the 2009 budget, including the
town tax levy of $217,229.55 as proposed. Voice vote, all in favor,
motion carried.
REGULAR MONTHLY TOWN
BOARD MEETING
The Clerk’s report of the meeting
minutes from October 20, 2008 was read. There was one correction
noted: 31st Rd, not 30th, where signs are needed.
Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept
the minutes as read and corrected.
Tom Brown – Mr Brown addressed the
board concerning the walk path from his home down to the lake. His
home is at 4612 S Shore Dr, on Long Lake. The path needed to be
widened and smoothed to accommodate a personal motorized vehicle. A
lannan stone wall was installed; some folks in the area are
complaining about its’ looks. Now a landscape plan has been
developed to hide the wall and make the look appealing to all. The
county zoning committee has advised Mr Brown to apply retroactively
for a permit. Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor
Lind to support Mr Brown with his landscape plan and permit
application. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
Mr Penterman asked if there was any
news of Mr Magdanz expanding his farming operations, next door to
Pentermans. Supervisor Timm said the board knew of no plans for
that, but that the Magdanz son would like to pursue farming also, so
there could be some expansion in the future.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. Waushara County Deputy – no report.
2. Roads – the brush cutters are finished, Supervisor Timm
and Chairman Petersen filled several potholes, graveling was done on
29th near Bob Erickson’s, a stop sign is needed on 29th
and Alp. Rural Insurance denied the claim from Brad Lind for 2
telephone pedestals that were destroyed (Lind is not a town
employee, but a private contractor, so Mr Lind will be responsible
for the bill). The truck and sander will be readied for plowing. A
“Dead End” sign will be put up for a private road off 26th.
Barricades will be readied to shut off Oak St for the winter.
3. Town Hall Rentals – the land use committee and several
families have rented through December.
4. November Election – the Clerk reported that was the
biggest election in the Town of Saxeville. 568 people voted. There
were 75 new registrants. The voting machines worked well and were a
great aid for the vote tabulators at the end of the evening.
5. Chairman Petersen checked on the survey map for Jerry
Veirauch. There had been thought that some of the brush at the dump
was on the Veirauch property. Everything appears to be in its’
proper place there.
6. There was no other unfinished business.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Land Use Committee – The committee will meet at our town
hall in November. All the materials are provided for the committee,
according to the working contract. The plan is developing nicely.
2. Charlie Herwig Property – The property is in need of a
variance for selling. It is listed as two separate lots, but would
work better as one lot. The owners did not appear at the town board
and ask for support on the issue, so county zoning will make the
decision.
3. There was no other new business.
The bills were presented for payment
and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.
The next meeting was set for Monday,
December 15, 2008, 8 PM at the town hall.
Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded
by Chairman Petersen to adjourn the meeting at 9:10 PM. Voice vote,
all in favor, motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Virginia Cartwright, Town Clerk |
