TOWN OF
SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Town Board Meeting – 10/20/2008
Notice for the meeting
was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library,
published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site. Vern
Hess, Linda Prochaska, Tracy Baster, Larry Timm, Spencer Timm, Ken,
Leah and Matt Hansen, Jim Scheek, Fran and Ruth Penterman were
visitors. All officers except Treasurer Seefelt, who was ill, were
present. Chairman Petersen called the meeting to order at 8:03 PM.
The Pledge of allegiance was
spoken.
Motioned by Supervisor Lind,
seconded by Supervisor Timm to rearrange the agenda to accommodate
the visitors. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
Rural Mutual Insurance Agent,
Linda Prochaska, spoke about the Town joining the Farm Bureau.
Rural Insurance will pay the first year’s coverage; the Town will
take over the $45.00/year premiums in September of 2009. The
Treasurer’s tax collection bond will not be written through the
current carrier; Rural is seeking a new company for that item.
Linda encouraged the Board to keep a current list of all items at
the hall, to be covered by Rural Mutual.
Vern Hess – addressed the Board
concerning the closing of Oak Street for a portion of the winter,
due to the severe conditions that the weather could put on that
road. Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to
close off the middle section of Oak Street beginning December 1
2008. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. Motioned by
Supervisor Lind, seconded by Supervisor Timm to purchase “road
closed” barricades for Oak Street. Voice vote, all in favor, motion
carried.
Jerry Verach, Land Division –
Larry Timm spoke on behalf of Mr Verach for the land division. The
lot is located near the entrance to the dump. He wishes to sell
about 23 acres and keep the seven acres with the house on it. The
area is currently being surveyed. Motioned by Chairman Petersen,
seconded by Supervisor Timm to support the Verach land division.
Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
The Clerk’s report of the
meeting minutes from September 15, 2008 was read. Motioned by
Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes
as read. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. A number of
recent invoices and revenues were discussed.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. Waushara County Deputy – no report.
2. Roads – the county inspected the bridges. Signs are
needed on 2nd St and 30th Ave. The brush
cutters are working in the area.
3. Town Hall Rentals – The adult group play is scheduled
for Oct 23-26. More reservations were received from the Saxeville
church, the library, the land use committee and several families.
4. Land Use Plan Committee – the first meeting was
attended by 14 people. The next meeting is scheduled for November
18, 7 PM. Chairman Petersen and Clerk Cartwright signed the Public
Participation Plan for the Land Use Plan Commission.
5. Blacksmith Shop Dedication – tabled indefinitely
6. There was no other unfinished business.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Election November 4 – The Clerk expects a large
turnout of voters. Seven poll workers will be hired for the day.
2. The Board assembled the line items for the 2009
budget.
3. There was no other new business.
The bills were presented for payment
and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.
The next meeting was set for Monday,
November 17, 2008, 8 PM at the town hall.
Motioned by Supervisor Timm,
seconded by Supervisor Lind to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 PM. Voice
vote, all in favor, motion carried.
