UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1.
Waushara County Deputy – no report.
2.
Roads – Some of the replacement signs still need to be
installed. A few potholes on Aspen and 30 Rd need fixing.
3.
Town Hall Rentals – There are reservations for the church,
mealsite, play rehearsals, a Christmas party, the food pantry and Dec 26th
tax collections. The staging has been taken down. Storage is still a
problem at the hall.
4.
Smart Growth – Wally Petersen gave a report from the last
meeting of the committee. A few minor changes were made to the plan. The
committee then unanimously approved the plan and will make a resolution to
present it to the Town Board. Wally will send the proper notices to the
Argus for a public hearing.
5.
Sander – Supervisor Purvis is working on the repairs for the
unit.
6.
There was no other unfinished business.
NEW
BUSINESS
1.
Website – The Board discussed questions from Tina Priestly
concerning items that should be listed on the website: solid
waste collection site and address, name, address and phone number for
area businesses in the town, a link to the Leon/Saxeville Library website.
2.
Library Board – needs a town representative. A motion was
made by Supervisor Lind and seconded by Supervisor Purvis to appoint Jason Timm
as the Town of Saxeville representative to the Leon/Saxeville Library Board.
Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The 2010 Library budget is tentatively
set at a 0-1% increase. The budget figure will be sent to the Clerk prior
to the October meeting.
3.
Roads - School Bus Issue – There is a blind intersection at E
Long Lake Rd and Deerpath. A sign is needed stating “blind
intersection” on E Long Lake Rd. Some of the brush will be trimmed there for
better visibility. Also, at Mallas and 1st St, the bus is having a
hard time turning around: the road is too narrow and there are fence posts right
alongside of the road on 2nd St near Harris’ property. What
exactly is the right of way there? There also are cars parked in the right
of way; snow plowing can’t be accomplished properly. Those folks will
need to be told to move their vehicles. The roads need to be evaluated and
entered in the WISLAR program. The inspection is planned for October 8, 2009,
10:30 AM. Mrs. Sellers requested some gravel on the edge
of the road, near the driveway, where it has raised over time.
4.
Towns Association Meeting (County Unit), Wautoma – Supervisor
Timm will make reservation for the Board. The Towns Association Convention
is being held in Stevens
Point.
5.
Public
Access Pier – Supervisor Purvis made a repair, but more work is
necessary. Perhaps the whole deck needs to be rebuilt.
6.
Poy Sippi Fire Department – If you live within 5 miles of the
department, your fire rating will go down on December
1, 2009 and your insurance could cost less. The rate will be at 7. It had
been at 8. Water
supply, hydrants, inspections, the department itself, personnel training,
water reserve and pumpers, 911 system, dispatch service and telephone service
are some of the items that play a part in the rating. The property owners are
responsible to notify the insurance companies of the change.
7.
County Report – Wally Petersen gave a report on some of the
budget issues at the county level. Cuts are
being made on most levels.
The
bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.
The next meeting was set for Monday, October
19, 2009 at the town hall. Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by
Supervisor Lind to adjourn the meeting at 9:15 pm. Voice vote, all in favor,
motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Virginia Cartwright, Town Clerk
