meeting to order at 8:10 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was spoken.

THE
TREASURER’S REPORT
from December 2008 was read. About one-third of the town taxes have
been received ($77,746.56). Rockwoods are still delinquent on their
personal property taxes. Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by
Supervisor Lind to accept the report as read. Voice vote, all in
favor, motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. Waushara County Deputy – no report.
2. Roads – The snow plowing is going okay. The county
widened some of the more narrow areas. Like the rest of the
country, we are experiencing higher costs for the salt. The county
expects to have enough for this snow season. Some of the newly
blacktopped roads have several places with dips and heaves. That
may remedy itself come spring.
3. Town Hall Rentals – There is one rental scheduled for
January. The Land Use Committee meeting on January 12 was well
attended in spite of the blizzard conditions.
4. There was no other unfinished business.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Primary Election – The Clerk noted the primary
election set for February 17, 2009, for the Superintendent of Public
Instruction. The voter turnout is expected to be very low.
2. Chairman Petersen noted the value of the LOSA pension
plan program for Saxeville-Springwater Fire Department at $65,952.
3. Meal Site Contract – The 2009 contract was
presented. The rate is $50.00 per month. Motioned by Chairman
Petersen, seconded by Supervisor Timm to renew the contract for
2009. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. Chairman Petersen
signed the contract.
4. Tom Rusch is facing trouble with the DNR. He hasn’t
filed the tree cutting report, which could result in a hefty fine.
5. The fence near Hilltop Cemetery on Rustic Road was
damaged by the snowplow. The chain link fence will be repaired in
spring.
6. The WTA meeting in Wautoma on January 26 was noted.
All officers plan to attend.
7. Mike Bruenning asked for some help with the rate on
his homeowners insurance. The rate had gone up considerably. He
lives 3.1 miles from West Bloomfield, but the insurance says
PoySippi Fire Department covers it. Supervisor Timm will try to
help him figure out a plan of action.
8. There was no other new business.
The bills were presented
for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them. The next
meeting was set for Monday, February 9, 2009, 8 PM at the town hall.
Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by
Supervisor Timm to adjourn
the meeting at 9:05 PM. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Virginia Cartwright, Town Clerk |
