TOWN OF SAXEVILLE,
WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Town Board Meeting Minutes – 7/20/2009
Notice for
the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library,
the Saxeville Post Office, published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s
web site. All officers were present. There were several visitors. Chairman
Timm called the meeting to order at 8:15 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was
spoken.
THE CLERK’S REPORT
of the meeting minutes from June 15, 2009 was read. Motioned by
Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as read.
Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
THE TREASURER’S REPORT
from June 2009 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by
Supervisor Purvis to accept the report as read. Voice vote, all in
favor, motion carried.
TIM KLEBE addressed the board concerning the culvert on his South
Long Lake Road and 2nd St pro-
perty. A
wider culvert would increase maneuverability and safety in that area.
Motioned by Supervisor
Purvis,
seconded by Supervisor Lind to approve the addition of 5’ of culvert to the
north and no farther than
the edge of
the garage to the south on Tim Klebe’s South Long Lake property. Voice
vote, all in
favor,
motion carried. The Clerk will send a letter to Mr Klebe with the information.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1.
Waushara County Deputy – no report.
2.
Roads – Several street signs and some bridge signs
need repair. The first round of mowing was completed and well done.
Supervisor Purvis cleaned areas around the bridges. Archer Ave has a
large pothole. Gail McMunn will be asked to move the pile of logs
resting too close to the road.
3.
Town Hall Rentals – There are rentals for the
church, mealsite, play rehearsals, Long Lake Association, boat safety program,
a graduation party, a family reunion, the food pantry and a DNR sponsored
Clean Boat Program training for Long Lake. There was a complaint about the
theatre staging taking up too much of the floor room for some who are renting
the hall. Organizing things at the hall would help a bit. Perhaps
a more portable stage could be built. Maybe the time has come to invest
in a small pole shed.
4.
Cemetery Fence – The Board had approved the
purchase of materials for the fence repair. Supervisor Purvis instructed Cal
Jenks and Allan Manske to gather the materials, make the repairs and bill the
Town.
5.
Town Website – Tina Priestly will be handling the
Town’s website. The plan is to enhance the site with colors, nature,
photos and much more information.
6.
Bridge on 29th – No new information
yet.
7.
The Board has been doing much to clean and
organize the many items stored in the garage. $100 was donated for a few
of the extra tables and chairs that weren’t being used.
8.
There was no other unfinished business.
NEW
BUSINESS
1.
Allan Beret – lives toward Pine River. He is
erecting a garage kit with a metal frame; it is too close to the road.
He needs a zoning variance. The matter was tabled.
2.
Keith Loehrke – Requested a culvert or a load of
gravel on his property on Akron Rd. The driveway is steeper since the
road was repaired. The Board will inspect the area. Motioned by
Chairman Timm, seconded by Supervisor Purvis to table the matter to the August
meeting. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
3.
County Report – Wally Petersen reported on budget
issues at the county level. The financial issues are not favorable for
towns and counties. Costs for county things are steadily rising; all
their departments are cut to the bone for the upcoming budget. One thing they
are trying to do is get enough paramedics to each of the three areas they
serve.
The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.
The next meeting was set for Monday, August 17, 2009 at the town hall.
Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to adjourn the
meeting at 9:37 pm.
Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Virginia Cartwright, Town Clerk
