TOWN OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Town Board Meeting Minutes – 6/15/2009
Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the
Leon-Saxeville Library, the Saxeville Post Office, published in the
Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site. All officers were
present. There were several visitors. Chairman Timm called the
meeting to order at 8:15 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was spoken.
THE CLERK’S REPORT of the meeting minutes from May 18, 2009 was
read. The minutes concerning Dave Harris’ building project should be
adjusted to read “a single story garage with attic trusses” instead
of a 2-story building. Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by
Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as corrected. Voice vote, all
in favor, motion carried.
THE TREASURER’S REPORT from May 2009 was read. Motioned by
Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the report
as read. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. Waushara County Deputy – no report.
2. Roads – Chairman Timm installed a “curve” sign near The
Ding. More new signs will be ordered from the county. Acorn Road was
seal coated and another spot on Pine Hill Road needs work also.
Chairman Timm will advise the county to start the summer mowing.
3. Town Hall Rentals – There are rentals for the church,
mealsite, play rehearsals, Long Lake Association, boat safety
program, a graduation party, a family reunion, the food pantry and a
DNR sponsored Clean Boat Program training for Long Lake.
4. Hecker’s Licenses – The Clerk verified with Bonnie Hecker
that the licenses they wish to obtain would be for packaged beer,
liquor, wine and cigarettes. Those will be applied for at a later
date.
5. Damaged Fence at Cemetery South of Saxeville - Supervisor
Purvis priced materials to repair the damaged section of fencing.
Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by Supervisor Purvis to
purchase the heavy grade of materials for approximately $501.40 to
repair the cemetery fence. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
Cal Jenks and Al Manske volunteered to do the repair work.
6. Town Website – Local resident, Tina Priestly has offered to
maintain the Town website for the same price as Plan-Net from
Oshkosh. Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by Supervisor Purvis
to accept the proposal from Priestly Enterprises, Inc. for website
maintenance. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The Clerk was
asked to pay Plan-Net $163.40 for work done through June 20, 2009.
7. Bridge on 29th – Chairman Timm is still searching for any
past records concerning the construction of that bridge. The
information is needed to formulate a plan for maintenance or
replacement.
8. The Clerk was asked to submit a letter to Mark Schumacher
stating the Board’s approval of Dave Harris’ garage building plan.
Mark will submit the letter to the County Zoning Board.
9. Wally Petersen reminded Chairman Timm to designate a Board
member to take care of the LOSA program for the Fire Departments.
Wally will train the new individual in October.
10. There was no other unfinished business.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Building Variance – Jim Schiek explained the variances he is
applying for at the county. He plans to build a new house on his
North Long Lake Road property. Because of size and location he will
need several variances. Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by
Supervisor Purvis to support Jim Schiek’s building plan. Voice vote,
all in favor, motion carried. The Clark was asked to submit a letter
to Mark Schumacher stating the Board’s support of Jim Schiek’s
building plan. Mark will submit the letter to the County Zoning
Board.
2. License Renewals – The Clerk was in receipt of liquor, beer,
cigarette and operator’s license renewal applications for The Ding,
Sawdust City Car, Crossroads Café and the Saxeville/Springwater Fire
Department. Motioned by Chairman Timm, seconded by Supervisor Purvis
to approve the liquor, beer, cigarette and operator’s licenses for
the 2009-2010 season. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
3. Assessor Contract – Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded
by Supervisor Lind to contract with John Blader for reassessment of
the Town of Saxeville for the year 2010 for $31,600. Voice vote, all
in favor, motion carried. The Board signed the contract.
The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to
pay them.
The next meeting was set for Monday, July 20, 2009 at the town hall.
Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to
adjourn the meeting at 9:40 pm.
Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
