TOWN OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN

MONTHLY TOWN BOARD MEETING

 Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library, the Saxeville Post Office, published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site. All officers were present. Tom Dahlke and Jane Putskey were visitors. Chairman Timm called the meeting to order at 8:05 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was spoken.

 

THE CLERK’S REPORT of the meeting minutes from July 19, 2010 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as read. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

THE TREASURER’S REPORT from July 2010 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the report as read.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

 Jane Putskey presented herself as a candidate for the upcoming election for the Waushara Clerk of Circuit Court.  Jane is the current Clerk of Circuit Court, appointed by Judge Murach in 1996.  She spoke of her banking and legal experience which led to balancing and computerizing all the financial records for the Court.  She enjoys her job and is open to new ideas for helping taxpayers.  Jane thanked the Board for the opportunity to visit with the Board and asked for their support in the September election.

 

Tom Dahlke, Waushara County Highway Commissioner, talked with the board about the County doing the Town’s roadwork.  He feels the County is price-competitive and would like to have a handshake commitment from the Board for a lot of the needed work. 

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
  1. Waushara County Deputy – There was no report.
  2. Roads – “No Parking” signs were installed on 2nd St, near the public access. Chairman Timm cut trees on Apache Ave. Next week Scott Construction plans to wedge and sealcoat 30th Rd from Cty Rd A to Cty Rd M. The inside corner of S Long Lake Rd needs knocking down before the school buses get in there.  Supervisor Purvis will call Mark Carlovsky to get the surveying done before school starts too.  1st St needs grading and washout holes filled. 
  3. Town Hall Rentals – The church has found another place to meet and will remove their belongings from the hall. Gail Schulke made a reservation for Oct 23.
  4. There was no other old business.

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Election – the fall primary is set for Sept 14.  Three poll workers will be hired. The seven poll workers and the Clerk will all attend election-training workshops on 9/1, 9/7, 10/12 and 10/19/10 at the Springwater Town Hall.
  2. Population – The Clerk noted the preliminary population estimate of 1028.
  3. Tax Overpay – Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to reissue a check to Steve Christensen for $175.08.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
  4. There was no other new business.

 

The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.  The next meeting was set for Monday, September 20, 2010 at the town hall. Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by Supervisor Purvis to adjourn the meeting at 9:40 pm. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
