TOWN OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN

July 19, 2010

MONTHLY TOWN BOARD MEETING

Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library, the Saxeville Post Office, published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site. All officers were present. There were several visitors. Chairman Timm called the meeting to order at 8:05 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was spoken.

THE CLERK’S REPORT of the meeting minutes from June 21, 2010 was read. The minutes will be corrected to read that Mr Penterman owns one of three different parcels of land that appear to be assessed very similarly. Another correction – Melissa Zamzow works in the Green Lake Clerk of Courts office, and is not the Clerk of Courts. Motioned by Chairman Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as read and corrected. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

THE TREASURER’S REPORT from June 2010 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the report as read.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
  1. Assessor Blader addressed the Board with a bit of explanation for the proposed increase in the assessor contract for 2011-2013.  It is the number of parcel counts that dictates his workload.  Right now the number is 3,013.  In the past four years his expenses have gone up due to the cost of new computer programs and some hired data entry work.  The county will no longer make changes for assessors.  The Board is pleased with Mr Blader’s work and would like to retain him as the Town’s assessor.  Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the 2011-2013 assessor contract with John Blader for $9,000.00 per year.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.  The Board signed the contract. John will take up the assessment issue with Mr Penterman and try to settle that matter.
  2. Waushara County Deputy – Sheriff Peterson spoke about the Triad Group meeting on August 3 at the Saxeville/Springwater Fire Dept.  The public is invited.  There will be many demonstrations that day, especially for seniors.  He encouraged all to attend these programs.  He was happy to report that individuals connected with the many recent burglaries in our area have been apprehended.
  3. Roads – Supervisor Purvis gathered price and equipment information from Jeremy Kubasta and Keith Pettit for brushwork. Per a letter from Tom Dahlke, Highway Commissioner, the County is still interested in doing most types of work for the Town.   The Board decided to have the County take care of the brushing on Popple Road and judge their work.  The remainder of the work will be hired out later. The Clerk was asked to send a letter to Mr Dahlke to present to the Public Works Board stating that Saxeville will consider the County for brush, seal coat and crack filling work and ask Commissioner Dahlke to attend the August Town Board meeting. North Long Lake Road and Pine Hill Road need brush work, preferably before the school buses start running.  The old pier from the public landing remains on Craig’s list.
  4. Town Hall Rentals – There was a rental for June 12, 2011.  The Clayton Peterson family wishes to reserve the same date for every year for their reunions.
  5. There was no other old business.

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Neil Pollock, a Long Lake resident and member of the Long Lake Association Board offered his services in dealing with any of the lake issues.  (Cell#630-258-3303, e-mail neil.p@wildblue.net)  He encouraged the Board to contact him for any dealings with the association.
  2. There was no other new business.

The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was instructed to pay them.

The next meeting was set for Monday, August 16, 2010 at the town hall. Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by Supervisor Purvis to adjourn the meeting at 9:30 pm. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,

Virginia Cartwright, Town Clerk
