published in the Waushara
Argus and on the Town’s web site. All officers were present. There
were several visitors. Chairman Timm called the meeting to order at
8:20 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance was spoken.
Melissa Zanzow presented herself as a
candidate for the upcoming election for the Clerk of Courts, Waushara
County. She lives in the Town
of Aurora and currently is the Clerk of Courts in
Green Lake. Melissa
believes she has the knowledge for the job and can lead and coordinate
people in the office. She thanked the Board for the
opportunity to visit with some of the leaders and voters in the county.

of the meeting minutes from May 17, 2010 was read. Motioned by
Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1.
Waushara County Deputy – There was no deputy
report.
2.
Roads – Becky Chaing reported downed road signs
near her property. Chairman Timm will put them up again.
There are several more missing signs that need replacement.
The Board discussed the sign for the mealsite.
They would like it to be the same as the sample (30” X 48”) as they were
shown in February, but 2-sided and placed on the existing post under the
sign that is already there. Scott Construction has finished their work in
our area, except for repairs on 30th Road from Cty M to Cty A.
Supervisor Purvis had placed an ad in the Argus for the old pier from
the public access. Only one bid was received.
The Board will wait for more bids and also list the item on Craig’s
List. Overhanging trees on 29th and N Long
Lake Roads need cutting. Supervisor Purvis will make a contact for that
work.
3.
Town Hall Rentals – There were no new general reservations.
The children’s playgroup will use the hall for practices with the
play being presented
on August 13, 14 and 15. The stage will be erected
after
July 4th and will remain up through
August 15th. The church group has
complaints about some of their speakers being moved and not returned to
their places for worship services.
4.
There was no other old business.
NEW BUSINESS
-
2010-2013 Assessor contract – Mr Blader is proposing a 3-year contract
for $9500 per year. This would be an increase of $3000 per
year. He has not requested a raise for several years and
this would lock in the price for 3 years instead of just one at a time
as before. The Board is pleased with his work in the past.
Fran Penterman feels Mr Blader does not do his job properly.
Fran has 3 20-acre parcels where 1 is clear-cut, the next lot
hasn’t been timbered in 40 years, while the 3rd lot has been
selectively timbered, and all are assessed at the same rate.
He and John have spoken several times, but the rates have not
been adjusted. Mr Penterman has not filed an objection
form and appeared at the Board of Review, which the Board strongly
encouraged him to do. Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by
Supervisor Lind asking the Clerk to contact Mr Blader for some more
details supporting the proposed contract salary increase or visit with
the Board at the July meeting to discuss the matter. Voice
vote, all in favor, motion carried.
-
Leon-Saxeville Library – Motioned by Chairman Timm, seconded by
Supervisor Purvis to appoint Julie Cartwright to the Board of Trustees
for the Leon-Saxeville Library for a 3-year term 2010-2013.
Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
-
Liquor, Beer, Operator’s Licenses Renewals – All applications and fees
for the beer, liquor and operator’s
license renewals
for
July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011 have been received by the Clerk.
Motioned by Chairman Timm, seconded by Supervisor Purvis to
approve all beer, liquor and operator’s licenses for The Ding, Behm’s
Sawdust City Bar, Crossroads Café and the Saxeville-Springwater Fire
Department for the
July 1, 2010 to June 30,2011 term. Voice vote, all
in favor, motion carried.
-
Dave
Harris Requests – The Clerk was directed to write a letter of response
to Mr Harris requests as follows: a. Request #1: “Request for a copy of
all letters in regard to the plowing of 2nd St” – After a
diligent search of the Town records, the Board was unable to find any
copies of the letters you presented on 3/15/2008. b.
Request #2: “Request for a full copy of all
Town of Saxeville
bylaws and all rules the Town Board members must adhere to as set by the
Town of Saxeville forefathers” – The
Town of Saxeville
forefathers did not draw up any specials rules or bylaws.
The boards in early years, as well as the boards of recent and current
years follow the
Wisconsin Statutes. Copies of those publications
can be found at a public library or on the internet. c.
Request #3: “Request that the Town of Saxeville fix and make wheelchair
accessible the pier on Long Lake” – A 6’ X 12’ dock with a 6’ X 8’ ramp
was installed at the public access on Long Lake in mid-May, 2010.
-
Town
Website – Ruth Penterman questioned the availability of
Town meeting and agendas on the website. Several
documents are missing. Tina Priestly, the current website
manager, was present and will find a solution to that problem.
-
Saxeville Sesquicentennial Times – There have been a few requests for
copies of the publication from the Town’s anniversary. It
was decided that $5.00 per mailed copy was a sufficient charge at this
time.
-
Tina
Priestly – Tina asked for a “Private Drive” sign near her road.
-
Survey – Chairman Timm will contact Mark Carlovsky to survey the area of
Mallas and 2nd Streets. The corner will
probably have to be cleaned out to make more room for the school bus.
-
Kelly Donoho inquired about a fireworks permit for the weekend of
June 26-27. Chairman Timm will sign the permit with a copy sent
to the local fire department.
-
There was no other new business.
The bills were presented for payment and the
Clerk was instructed to pay them. The next meeting was
set for
Monday, July 19, 2010 at the town hall. Motioned by Supervisor Lind,
seconded by Supervisor Purvis to adjourn the meeting at
9:50 pm. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Virginia Cartwright, Town Clerk
