TOWN OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN

MONTHLY TOWN BOARD MEETING

 

Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library, the Saxeville Post Office, published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site. There were three visitors. All officers were present. Chairman Timm called the meeting to order at 8:10 pm.

 

THE CLERK’S REPORT of the meeting minutes from July 18, 2011 was read. There were 2 minor corrections; Supervisor Hansen’s mower was damaged not wrecked and a new mower could be purchased from Bohn’s, not Bowen’s. Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as read and corrected.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

 

THE TREASURER’S REPORT from July 2011 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the report as read.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

 
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
  1. Waushara County Sheriff – No deputy was present.
  2. Roads – Several things need attention: Chairman Timm will replace stop signs as needed, an area near Scott Kasobaski needs a new culvert and washout repair (County or Spencer Timm could do it; Board will get a quote from S. Timm), Deer Path Lane needs washout repair, many areas have trees hanging over roads.  Chairman Timm met with Anderson Tree Service who will do tree work in the Town. They are also interested in stump grinding and brushing in the Town. Chairman Timm and Supervisor Lind cleaned a tree mess near Edgar Frater’s on Rustic Road.
  3. Town Hall Rentals – there are no new rentals.
  4. There was no other old business.

 

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Population Estimate – 988 (up 2 from 2010), approx. 801 are voting age, 630 of who are currently registered voters.
  2. New Requirement to Establish an Employee Grievance Procedure – This is a new state-mandated requirement due 10/1/2011.  This will be an agenda item for the 9/19/2011 board meeting.
  3. Concealed Carry of Weapons Signage for Town Hall – This is a new state-mandated requirement.  This will be an agenda item for 9/19/2011.
  4. Hall Rent – Dee Hartman inquired about a quilting group renting the hall. It would be 5-8 people, 3-4 hours, a couple nights a month.
  5. Ed Schaber, Fire Chief asked for the equalized value of the portion of the Town that his fire department protects, for budget purposes.  There was a bit of a discussion again about fire sirens.  It would require 5-6 sirens, at a cost of about $25,000.00 each to cover our Town.
  6. There was no other new business.

 

The bills were presented for payment. The Clerk was instructed to pay them. Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 pm.  Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The next meeting was set for Monday, September 19, 2011 at the town hall.
