UNFINISHED BUSINESS
- Waushara County Sheriff – Sheriff Peterson talked about several break-ins in the area, but the burglars are in custody. Several of the stolen items that hadn’t been pawned have been retrieved. The County agreed to purchase a new records system and updated radio equipment for the department. The taxpayers will realize part of the cost. A grant had been received to start a garden in a lot near the Sheriff’s Department, utilizing inmate labor for growing food.
- Roads – A new tank, plow ram and mirrors were installed on the truck. The bill for $558 for the electric pole replacement was paid. It had been knocked off in a plowing accident. The Board agreed to not insure the light poles at the town hall. Brian Glatz suffered whiplash in the accident and has been receiving medical treatment for his injuries. This is a workman’s comp insurance issue and Rural Mutual is handling it. Mr Crier surveyed the area at 2nd and Mallas; it is properly marked and supported with several photographs. The County is currently plowing that area. The County will be asked to do the weight limit posting on the bridges.
- LOSA Program – Ray Hahn presented the information. There currently are 19 members receiving benefits on the Sax/Spr Fire Department. The total yearly cost of the program is $6701.15 to be divided equally by the Towns of Saxeville, Springwater and Mt. Morris. ($2233.86). Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to remit the LOSA costs as billed for the Sax/Spr fire Department. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
- Town Hall Rentals–There are 2 new rentals: June 12, Clayton Peterson family reunion and Dec 4, Donna Lind family party. Recent rentals to Gail Schuelke and Tom and Jeanne Christensen have produced unfavorable comments: truck gas smell, floors and bathrooms are very dirty, leaking urinals, walls need painting and several ceiling tiles should be replaced. Karen Hanson will speak with someone who may be interested in cleaning the hall and submit some ideas on pricing at the February meeting.
- Town Hall Safety and Repair Issues – A first aid kit, a cell phone for emergencies and flashlights have been placed in the hall. “Wiry Joe’s Electric, Inc” suggested emergency lighting ideas. Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by Chairman Timm to install an emergency light with battery back up in each bathroom, interior lights to light the whole room and a lens holder for the fixture in the hallway for about $600.00. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. Supervisor Purvis also did research on the automatic door opener with an electrician. An estimate of $1500.00 to $1800.00 was obtained. He will contact Tri-City Glass of Appleton.
- New Truck Funds – The rollover funds left from 2010 will be discussed in February. Perhaps it is time to set aside monies to purchase a different truck.
- There was no other old business.
NEW BUSINESS
- Election, February 15, 2011 – The Clerk will hire three poll workers for the election. The voter turnout is expected to be very low.
- 2011 PoySippi Fire Department Rescue Contract – The rescue bill for $925.00 for 2010 will be paid. Motioned by Supervisor Lind, seconded by Supervisor Purvis to approve the Rescue Contract for 2011 with the PoySippi Fire Department. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The Board signed two copies of the contract.
- District Meeting – Friday, Feb 18, 2011, Ripon – reservations will be made for Supervisor Lind, Chairman Timm and Clerk Cartwright. WTA meeting in Wautoma, Jan 24 – reservations will be made for Supervisor Lind, Chairman Timm and Clerk Cartwright.
- There was no other new business.
The bills were presented for payment. Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Chairman Timm to pay all bills as presented. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The next meeting was set for Monday, February 21, 2011 at the town hall. Motioned by Supervisor Purvis, seconded by Supervisor Lind to adjourn the meeting at 9:20 pm. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
