MONTHLY TOWN BOARD MEETING
Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library, the Saxeville Post Office, published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site. There were several visitors. All officers were present. Chairman Timm called the meeting to order at 8:15 pm.
THE CLERK’S REPORT of the meeting minutes from May 16, 2011 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Chairman Timm to accept the minutes as read. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
THE TREASURER’S REPORT from May 2011 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Chairman Timm to accept the report as read. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
- Waushara County Sheriff – No deputy was present.
- Roads – The Board met June 16 for road inspections. The Board signed the pavement maintenance contract with Scott Construction for $101,027.30 for 2011 repairs. The project on S Long Lake Rd, Cty TT to the town line was excluded at this time. The County is into the summer roadside mowing.
- Town Hall Rentals – Pam Lilach has rented the hall for a baby shower on June 26. There was some indecision on the floor mats. Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Chairman Timm to table the floor mat item to the July meeting. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
- Public Comment - John Nigbor had asked the Board for help in enforcing the County noise ordinance in his area. Chairman Timm did not speak with Sheriff Peterson and Terri Dopp-Paukstat, Zoning Administrator, but all has been quiet in that area.
- There was no other old business.
NEW BUSINESS
- Beer, Liquor, Operator’s Licenses for 7/1/11 – 6/30/12 – Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Chairman Timm to approve all beer, liquor and operator’s licenses for 2011-2012 as applied for. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
- County Supervisory District Map – There are no wards needed for the Town, so the map stands as proposed.
- Leon/Saxeville Library – Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Supervisor Lind approving Jason Timm and Becky Soper as appointees to the Library Board. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
- Adams-Columbia Electric Coop – Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to approve the issuance of bonds to finance various improvements to the existing electric distribution system of ACEC. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
- Traffic Survey Summery – The Board reviewed the report from Sheriff Peterson that had been taken at CTH E at CTH TT/A South. At the posted speed of 55mph, 3860 vehicles were at or under the limit, 1910 were over the limit with an average speed of 45.78mph.
- Assessor Electronic Assessment Data – The Clerk explained to the Board that the assessor is studying a state-mandated assessment program for town property records. There will be a considerable cost to getting all the paper records converted to the new system. Mr Blader will address the Board at a later time with estimated costs that will be applied to the next Town budget.
- Fire Department Chief Ed Schaber gladly reported that all has been pretty quiet at the Fire Department. He noted the Chix BBQ is slated for July 10.
- Road Name – The Board was asked to name the road off E and NN. The Board agreed on “Independence Road”.
- There was no other new business.
The bills were presented for payment. The Clerk was instructed to pay them. Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to adjourn the meeting at 9:20 pm. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The next meeting was set for Monday, July 18, 2011 at the town hall.
