TOWN OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
February 21, 2012
MONTHLY TOWN BOARD MEETING
Notice for the meeting was posted at the dump, the town hall, the Leon-Saxeville Library, the Saxeville Post Office, published in the Waushara Argus and on the Town’s web site. There were 3 visitors. Officers Timm, Lind, Hansen and Cartwright were present. Chairman Timm called the meeting to order at 8:05 pm.
THE CLERK’S REPORT of the meeting minutes from Jan. 16, 2012 was read. There was a correction in New Business #7: The asphalt gravel mixture had been applied to MM Ihlenfeldt’s road 7-8 years ago, not 10 years. Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the minutes as read and corrected. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
THE TREASURER’S REPORT from January 2012 was read. Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to accept the report as read. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. It was motioned by Chairman Timm, seconded by Supervisor Hansen to issue 15checks for all the tax overpays refunds. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
- Waushara County Sheriff – No deputy was present.
- Roads – The trucking company has finished hauling heavy dirt loads across N Long Lake Rd; no damage has been noticed, but Chairman Timm reported that the company will take care of any repair those roads may need in spring. Snow plowing is happening as needed, but snowfall has been minor.
- Town Hall Rentals – There are no new reservations.
- MM Ihlenfeldt discussed their road, the washouts there and possibly regrading it; they are looking to make it safe, especially since it is used by business traffic, and a means of payment since several other landowners use the roadway. The item needs more study.
- Election – The Clerk reported that no election would be held on February 21, 2012.
- There was no other old business.
NEW BUSINESS
- Assessor Blader alerted the Board to a state-mandated item that will be discussed at the upcoming District meetings. It concerns more work for assessors, putting all the assessment records on computers.
- Century Link – The Board signed a blanket permit for Century Link, allowing new setups for poles, wires, etc. as necessary.
- Joyce Ihlenfeldt asked permission to place her massage business on the Town website. Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Chairman Timm to allow Mrs. Ihlenfeldt’s massage business to be added to the Town’s website with other listed businesses. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
- Fire Chief Ed Schabor reported that the Fire Department had about 160 calls, and 85 rescue calls. Nordic Mt. has had numerous calls for injured skiers. Firefighters in his department are being very conscientious about responding to fire and rescue calls. Several area landowners have made generous donations for new equipment.
5. The Board asked the Clerk to have flowers sent for the funeral of Dave Hanson, husband of Town
Treasurer Karen Hanson.
- There was no other new business.
BILLS - The bills were presented for payment. Motioned by Chairman Timm, seconded by Supervisor Hanson to pay the bills. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
ADJOURN - Motioned by Supervisor Hansen, seconded by Supervisor Lind to adjourn the meeting at 8:45 pm. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried. The next meeting was set for Monday, March 19th, 2012 at the town hall.
