TOWN OF SAXEVILLE, WAUSHARA COUNTY, WISCONSIN
Meetings – November 21, 2006
Notice for the meetings was posted at the dump, the town hall, the
Leon-Saxeville Library, published in the Waushara Argus and on
the Town’s web site. Visitors included Karen Hansen, Vern Hess
and Kevin Thiemer. All officers were present. Chairman Petersen
called the first meeting to order at 8:15 PM.
A. PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED BUDGET FOR 2007
There was discussion on several items:
1. Fire Truck Escrow – the treasurer has actually set the monies for 2006
aside.
2. LOSA for the PoySippi Fire Dept – We could have to budget for that in
2008.
3. Fire Sirens – It could cost up to $10,000 to get adequate coverage for
the whole town.
4. Lake Access – More work will be done there in 2007. Power loading of
boats continues which wrecks the landing.
5. Karen Hansen questioned the board salaries being proposed at an
increase of 38%. It was noted that no increase had been given
since 1999. Mr Thiemer thought the salary amounts were very
reasonable for the amount of work the board members are expected
to handle.
6. Brush and Mow – The dollar amount was explained. The two budget items
had been combined previously; the category was separated into
two items for 2007 for ease of budgeting.
B. SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
1. The 2006 Town Tax Levy of $211,944.62 (down .15% from 2005) was
adopted.
2. Compensation for Town Officials elected 4/3/07 – Motioned by Karen
Hansen, seconded by Vern Hess to cap the elected officials wages
at 10%. Voice vote, 2 yeas, and 4 nays. The motion did not
carry. Motioned by Kevin Thiemer, seconded by Jason Timm to
accept the salaries as proposed for 2007-2008, and initiate a 3%
increase in salaries biannually. Voice vote, 4 yeas, and 2 nays.
The motion carried.
C. REGULAR MONTHLY TOWN BOARD MEETING
1. No Clerk’s report was available.
2. The Treasurer’s report for October 2006 was read. Motioned by
Supervisor Timm,
seconded by Chairman Petersen to accept the report as read.
Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
3. Unfinished Business
a. Roads – The black top is finished for the year. Brush
cutters worked in the area for
4 days, returning after the deer-hunting season. The County will
do most of the
snow plowing, with Brian Glatz and Erdman Excavating taking care
of the town
roads. The dump truck was readied for winter with a new exhaust
system, brake
lines and gas tank mounts.
b. Town Hall Rentals – There are 4 rentals scheduled for
December. Chairman
Petersen will contact Sue Petersen about the cost for an extra
day of rent.
c. Post Election Report – The Clerk was pleased with the
voter use of the new voting
machine (about 1/3 of the voters). The poll workers counted
ballots until 2:30 AM.
The Clerk checked into purchasing a ballot scanner; it is not
cost effective. The
County is currently setting aside monies for the purchase of
second machines for
Each polling place. The voting should go faster and the machine
will do more of
The counting.
d. Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Chairman Petersen
to adopt the 2007
Budget of $317,269.94 (an increase of 1.03% over 2005). Voice
vote; the yeas
Carried the motion.
e. Town Hall Sign – The light on the sign needs to be
connected to the hall.
This can probably be accomplished without an electrician. Mr
Hess had a key
Made for the sign to be able to put up library news.
f. Town Website – The minutes are posted when the Clerk types
them. The agendas
are posted toward the end of the week before the meeting, since
there are always
last minute changes to address.
g. About 100 chairs have been donated for use at the hall.
4. New Business
a. The Board discussed the Waushara County Room Tax. Motioned
by Supervisor
Lind, seconded by Supervisor Timm to adopt the Waushara County
Room Tax
And appoint Kevin Thiemer as its’ representative to the County
for the Tourism
Board. Voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The bills were presented for payment and the Clerk was
instructed to pay them.
The next meeting was set for Monday, December 18, 2006, 8:00 PM
at the town hall.
Motioned by Supervisor Timm, seconded by Supervisor Lind to

Virginia Cartwright, Town Clerk
